About Tiger Scouts
A boy or girl who is 7 years old or is in the first grade is a Tiger. He or she joins Cub Scouting with his parent or adult guardian. This is unique relative to other ranks in Cub Scouting. Tigers and their adult partners are just that, partners. They attend meetings together, go on adventures like field trips together, and complete requirements together.
Scoutbook
Scoutbook is an online tracking resource to monitor and track your Tiger Cub’s progress. Once you create an account, you will be linked to your Scout’s profile and able to record, edit, and monitor his progress through earning the 5 required Achievements and 5 electives. We encourage parents to visit Scoutbook at least monthly.
Tiger Den News
Tiger Cub Akelas and parents can find the latest and greatest information about upcoming plans, outings, and adventures. We will also share some memorable moments from recent events in our Den or Pack. Check what to bring to the next Den meeting, find TimetoSignUp.com links and other valuable resources to stay in the loop.
Pinewood Derby
Pack 279 has several key programs we repeat year after year, among them is the Pinewood Derby.
Awards & Recognition
Recognition has been a fundamental part of Scouting from its beginning. Done well, it is a powerful tool that can help leaders set goals, define accomplishments, encourage skill development, celebrate commitment and achievement, and inspire others to strive for similar success. Check out some of the ways Pack 279 awards hard work and provides appropriate and positive recognition.
Family Camp Outs
Twice a year, Pack 279 offers a fun-filled outdoor camping experience open to your scout and his or her immediate family. The Fall and Spring Family Camp Outs are held at BSA Certified Camps in the New Birth of Freedom Council. Planned by Pack 279 leaders and parents, camp outs offer cabin as well as tent camping options, camp fires, hiking, fishing, and much more. Learn more about what to expect at our next Family Camp Out.
